We have been filming conference sessions since Affiliate Summit East 2006, so we typically encourage attendees to choose networking over sessions if they have to make a choice.

But not this time – if you want to see a session and you miss it, you’re out of luck.

We strictly forbid recording audio or video of sessions when we are recording them. But we’ll permit it for Affiliate Summit Central 2012.

Note: this is a one time thing. Future Affiliate Summits cannot be recorded in any way, unless we specifically say it’s permitted.

Affiliate Summit East 2012 is taking place August 12-14, 2012 in New York City, and there are a number of sponsor opportunities available where 100% of money received will go to the Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade.

These opportunities are only available through Monday, May 21 at 11:59PM PT.

Funds raised will be donated in support of the Affiliate Marketers Give Back team, a group of affiliate marketers who will be walking 39.3 miles around New York City in October 2012 to raise money to fight breast cancer.

We’ve received a lot of feedback in the past that the Q&A at the end of sessions was problematic on a number of levels.

Some people would be inaudible, because they didn’t ask a question with a mic; while others would preface their question with a commercial for their company.

So, the audience will be able to submit questions to the speakers via SMS, a phone or computer web browser, as well as Twitter at Affiliate Summit Central 2012.

It will be easy to ask a question in any of the full sessions on the first day of the conference – sessions on the second day will be shorter, and will not have time for Q&A.

We’re changing up the name-badges at Affiliate Summit Central 2012, so they’ll have QR codes this time around, instead of the barcodes we’ve had in the past.

That means exhibitors won’t have a need to rent scanners, and anybody at the conference with a QR code reader on their phone can read the codes on badges and collect the name, email and phone of people you meet.

Test the code in the sample badge above with your QR code reader. If you don’t see my name, email and phone (some apps I tried were missing one of those three), I’d suggest getting a different app, such as the QR code reader from scan.me.

We’d love to hear what you think of this after trying it out in Austin, and whether you’d like to also see it in NYC.

The Race to Affiliate Summit East 2012, a dailymile challenge where Affiliate Summit will donate $1 to benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in support of Affiliate Marketers Give Back team for each mile cycled, run, swam, or walked through the challenge, is running through 7/31/2012.

There are currently 59 folks involved in the challenge, and the top ten competitors have already accumulated 5,302 miles.

Overall, there have been 8,498 miles tallied by all of the participants, so it’s $8,498 raised.

I am at #9 right now (see my dailymile profile) with 345 miles, and I am watching a whole bunch of competition catching up. Time in increase things!

Here are the top ten runners, as of May 2, 2012.

dailymile syncs with Garmin devises, Nike+ device and iPhone app, as well as a number of iPhone and Android clients.

You can also manually enter your cycling, swimming, running, and walking efforts.

In order to participate in dailymile activities, you will need to friend me on dailymile and I will invite you to the challenge. The challenge is going through 7/31/2012.

Affiliate Summit East 2012 is taking place August 12-14, 2012 in New York City.
