Blueprint for Making an Impact at a Conference

Conferences are an investment in your business, and with any investment, you should do your homework and have a plan to be sure you get the best return.

Along those lines, I just wanted to share the story of Dave Cupples of FatCowBusiness.com.

Dave was accepted as a speaker for Affiliate Summit East 2011, and a couple weeks before the conference, he put together an entertaining video and blog post (Why Affiliate Summit is the best conference in the world, LIVE from Australia + Boomerang + Didgeridoo!) to preview his session.

He also started up a poll (VOTE: Which Australian Animal should I give away during my Affiliate Summit Presentation?) to encourage some interaction with conference attendees in advance.

Not surprisingly, Dave also put a lot of time and effort into a quality, informative presentation (Making Money with Facebook, Twitter & Blogging) for Affiliate Summit, and he spoke before a standing room only crowd.

I saw Dave at countless events during the conference, and he was a networking machine.

Dave did a good job making some small audiences happy, too. A few weeks ago, my business partner Missy Ward lamented on Twitter that she would not be able to get a new AC/DC wine (she loves AC/DC and wine), because it’s only being made available in Australia.

Well, Mr. Cupples had that issue handled, too, as he brought Missy the coveted wine. She Tweeted about her happy import with a photo.

And I got a nice Australian treat from Dave, too – a selection of Australian beers (beer is better than wine, btw), and a nifty kangaroo bottle opener.

Thank you very much, Dave. We were honored that you made the long trip to speak at Affiliate Summit, and hope to see you at future events. Now on to start with the Grand Ridge Brewery Gippsland Gold Pale Ale.

Earthquake in NYC, @GordonRamsay01 Hates Cowboys, and Affiliate Summit East 2011 Recap

Nearly 4,000 Attendees at Affiliate Summit East 2011

The final numbers are in for Affiliate Summit East 2011 and we ended up with 3,943 attendees – the biggest Affiliate Summit East to date.

We are very excited about the sustained growth during such a fragile economy – it’s a testament to the strength of the affiliate marketing space, even during a recession.

Attendees were evenly distributed across attendee types, and over 1,100 of those attendees were affiliates!

eBay Partner Network is Going Mobile

The eBay Partner Network Team announced during Affiliate Summit East 2011 they are launching ePN Mobile on September 8, 2011.

ePN Mobile

Starting on September 8, affiliates will see a new feature in their reports that breaks out mobile traffic from classic (non-mobile) traffic.

Any traffic driven to eBay’s international mobile web properties can be monetized and added to affiliate reports.

The mobile launch sounds like it will be nice and easy for affiliates, as they will not need to make any changes to their existing affiliate links.

But affiliates do need to register their domain, as traffic that occurs on a mobile device from domains that have not been registered will not be commissionable.
